Libwil Technology is a leading innovator in gearing systems, with a particular interest in orbital gearboxes and phase control mechanisms. In addition, one of the most revolutionary aspects of the Libwil designs is the modular nature of the gearing systems. In an industrial application such as a packaging line, for example, simply changing a module, which applies different gear ratios, could change the speed of the line. Orbital Gearboxes Efficiency, compact design, and simplicity are the key features of the Libwil Technology Orbital transmission system. Matching and exceeding the efficiency of a planetary gearbox, the Libwil units deliver high ratios encased in very small packages and provide an alternative to hydraulic control in many applications. A lower component count than planetary gearboxes also results in measurable cost savings. The four main parts of an orbital gearbox are:
When compared to large ratio worm-drives, the orbital gearbox exceeds the efficiency of the worm-drive yet it has a similar one-way transmission of torque, as a worm-drive. A Libwil orbital gearbox is capable of ratios in excess of 2000:1 and if required, the innovative design allows units to lock when input ceases. A typical design encompasses a small, 300:1 unit capable of reliably transmitting up to 50Nm of output torque at efficiencies better than 70%. This unit is small, light and inexpensive, making it ideal for use in automotive park brake systems. In addition to this unit, Libwil has a 70:1 orbital gearbox that is capable of sustained outputs in excess of 150Nm. It is ideally suited to the winch industry. Additional Uses
